Week #6 Thing 14

I explored Technorati again tonight. I searched "School Library Learning 2.0" in the Blog posts and found 142 hits. Using the tags search I got 140 hits using " " and 1,202 hits without the quotation marks. When using the blog directory, I got 7 hits using the quotation marks and 7 without.

I also found out about Authority..."Technorati Authority is the number of blogs linking to a website in the last six months. The higher the number, the more Technorati Authority the blog has."

Blog reactions are similar, "
Blog Reactions are the posts or blogs that have linked to yours. The number of blog reactions are essentially the link count for your blog and contribute to your authority and rank as well."

Seems rather the same?!

For me, this doesn't really matter since my school blog is mainly to track what I've read and to try to get students to do the same. Therefore, I put a counter on my blog so I can see if students may have looked at my blog but not necessarily contributed to it.

The advantage of tagging is to be able to easily tag and search for subjects that are of interest to me. The disadvantage is that what I think of as a subject term may not be what others use.

I am going to try to tag this post using Technorati html. I'm really not sure what this does, it's supposed to let my blog entry?? become part of Technorati tag searches. (After I published this, I tried the SJLibrary2.0 link on the bottom and didn't see my post. Perhaps it takes a few minutes.??)
